Terms of Engagement

Effective from May 2023

These Terms of Engagement (“Terms”) govern all services provided by Foundry Lab (“we,” “us,” or “our”) to any client (“you” or “the client”) engaging with our consultancy. By commissioning work or confirming engagement, you agree to the following terms.


1. Scope of Work

All services will be clearly scoped and agreed upon in writing before commencement. Changes to the brief, timeline, or deliverables may affect costs and delivery schedules and must be confirmed in writing by both parties.


2. Fee Structure

Consultancy Rates (for churches and non-profits with up to 5 staff or 200 members):

  • £100 / $125 USD / $170 CAD – First hour
  • £50 / $65 USD / $85 CAD – Each subsequent hour
  • Daily rate: £400 / $500 USD / $680 CAD (10% discount vs 8-hour day)

Consultancy Rates for Larger Organisations (based on congregation size, staff, or annual budget):

  • For organisations with 201–500 people: +20%
  • For 501–1000: +40%
  • For over 1000: +60%

All consultancy pricing includes basic prep and follow-up. Extended projects will be quoted individually.

Sliding Scale

We offer reduced rates for organisations with limited budgets. These are reviewed case-by-case, and clients may be asked to evidence their need (e.g. financial statements, annual income reports, etc.).


3. Speaking Engagements & Pulpit Supply

Base rates (up to 250 attendees):

  • £250 / $310 USD / $425 CAD – Standard message (topic chosen by us)
  • £500 / $625 USD / $850 CAD – Tailored message (25 hours of prep, consultation, and prayer)

For larger groups:

  • £1 / $1.25 USD / $1.70 CAD per person from 251–1000
  • £0.50 / $0.60 USD / $0.85 CAD per person beyond 1000

Travel, accommodation, and tech needs are charged separately unless agreed otherwise.


4. Travel & Expenses

Where in-person engagement is agreed, clients are responsible for covering:

  • Return travel
  • Reasonable accommodation
  • Subsistence (meals, local transport)

Remote services are available. Foundry Lab maintains consultants in the UK, USA, and Canada, many of whom are open to travel at client expense.


5. Payment Terms

  • Invoices are issued at key milestones or on project completion.
  • Payment due within 14 days unless otherwise agreed.
  • Late payments incur a 5% monthly interest charge.
  • All pricing is subject to change due to market fluctuations or currency instability.
  • Every engagement is individually reviewed for accurate pricing.

6. Intellectual Property

  • Pre-existing IP (frameworks, tools, designs) remain the property of Foundry Lab.
  • Custom deliverables become the client’s property upon full payment.
  • We retain the right to showcase anonymised project outcomes in portfolios and promotional materials.

7. Confidentiality

All client material is treated with strict confidentiality. We expect the same respect for our proprietary methods and tools. This commitment extends beyond the lifetime of the project.


8. Cancellations & Postponements

  • 50% fee if cancelled within 7 days
  • 100% fee if cancelled within 48 hours (particularly for booked travel)
  • Rescheduling is permitted with notice, subject to availability

9. Safeguarding

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people, and vulnerable adults.

  • Any safeguarding concerns encountered during our work will be reported in partnership with the client wherever possible.
  • However, we reserve the right to report concerns to the relevant authority without prior client approval if delay could place someone at risk.
  • We reserve the right to immediately terminate any engagement where abuse is identified and the client is unwilling or unable to respond appropriately according to safeguarding best practices.

10. Limitation of Liability

  • Foundry Lab is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.
  • We do not guarantee outcomes and advise our services be considered as part of a broader decision-making process.
  • We do not provide legal services or legal advice under any circumstances.

11. Professional Standards

We reserve the right to withdraw from any engagement where:

  • A conflict of interest arises
  • Our team is treated unethically
  • Safeguarding or ethical concerns are not being addressed adequately

12. Force Majeure

We are not responsible for delays due to events outside our control (e.g., natural disasters, illness, technology failure, civil unrest).


13. Jurisdiction

These terms are governed by the laws of the United Kingdom unless otherwise agreed. Disputes will first be addressed through mediation before any formal proceedings.


14. Revisions

These Terms may be updated periodically. You will be notified of any substantial changes prior to any new engagement.


When engaging with Foundry Lab, all contracts are in affirmation of the above Terms, clients confirm they have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms. If you require a custom agreement for board approval or insurance purposes, please contact us.
